Truth or Dare is a party game that is often played in groups and involves taking turns to either answer a question truthfully or perform a challenge, known as a "dare." Groups can make flexible rules make it suitable for a wide variety of occasions, from casual hangouts to sleepovers or even team-building events. The game typically aims to create fun and provide entertainment through a mixture of honesty and sometimes embarrassing or bold actions.
Players usually sit in a circle. The game starts with someone being selected either randomly or by choice. In some versions, players use a bottle or spinner to decide whose turn it is next, while others may simply go clockwise or take turns voluntarily.
When it’s a player’s turn, they must choose between “truth” or “dare”.
If the player chooses "truth," they have to answer a personal question posed by one of the other players. The question can be simple or deeply revealing. It could range from light-hearted “Who’s your secret crush?” to more probing or serious “What’s your biggest fear?".
If the player opts for a "dare," they must perform a task or challenge set by the group. The dares are often playful, silly, or mildly embarrassing (e.g., “Dance for 30 seconds,” “Call someone and sing to them,” or “Wear socks on your hands for the next five minutes”). Dares can also be more daring or extreme, depending on the group's comfort level.
